Samsung Canada Launches the All New Galaxy Rugby Smartphone.

Looks like the Galaxy Rugby is on its way. This Android powered handset is said to be “Built for those who work in tough surroundings”. We here at Mobilenorth have yet to review one so we can’t say either way how durable it is.
Here are some of the specs:

  • Technology: EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900
  • Operating System: Android 2.3
  • Display: 3.65″ HVGA TFT Corning® Gorilla® Glass Display
  • External Memory: Supports up to 32GB via microSD™
  • Internal Memory: 150MB + 2GB card included in box
  • Weight: 135 grams
  • Camera: 3.0 MP Camera with Flash
  • Battery: 1500mAH Battery
  • Dimensions: 121.5 X 65.9 X 11.9 mm

As with all Android devices, you will have access to all the apps available in Google Play.  You will also be able to connect to your corporate email account and various media including location, music and social networking services.
Samsung Galaxy Rugby is designed to be water (submersible up to 1M for 30 minutes!)and dust proof, and is equipped with an anti-scratch screen and extra long life battery. I’m skeptical about that “long life battery”. With only a 1500mAH battery how exactly are they going to stretch out the battery life?

I had to add this… I’d feel horrible if someone water logged their new Samsung Rugby.

* Waterproof against incidental exposure to water when all ports are tightly closed. NOT designed or intended for in water use.
Submersible up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.
